Your Formula for a Successful Career Transition Begins With Job Search Focus Group Membership

Many of us find ourselves in transition sometime during our career. Job Search Focus Group, an outreach ministry of Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church, offers a supportive, informative environment, providing guidance and emotional support for those in transition. Over 10,000 job seekers leverage the benefits of membership in JSFG and graduated to new career opportunities since 1992.

Start Your Week With Us

We understand the impact of job loss and the worrisome journey that job seekers – in all stages of their careers – face.

Join us Mondays at 9:00 a.m. for our weekly meetings. First timers, please arrive at 8:00 a.m. for an orientation class. For weeks with Monday holidays, we meet on Tuesday at the same times.

If you decide to join Job Search Focus Group after attending your first meeting, we ask for a nominal fee and a commitment of your time to assist us with covering administrative costs and duties:

  • $25 for first quarter, $10 for additional quarters
  • Volunteer six hours per month in our office and/or on a committee or project
  • Lend your expertise by joining various operating committees

During weekly meetings and special workshops, we cover a wealth of information geared at jump starting your job search and keeping you on the right track.

Informative speakers share their insight on the ever-changing job market and provide tips to maximize job search effectiveness, covering critical topics such as:

  • Preparing for accomplishment-focused interviewing
  • Building your personal brand
  • Identifying your personnel strengths
  • Incorporating technology into the process
  • Exploring franchise and entrepreneur options

We demonstrate the critical importance of incorporating networking into your job search process and provide opportunities to:

  • Network with peers in your industry – or across an array of industries – during our weekly meetings
  • Network with other job search organizations throughout our community

Membership gains access to our email service where you can:

  • Receive posting of job opportunities
  • Reach out to fellow members with questions about companies or contact
  • Learn about additional area events
